Here’s what the duck doesn’t realize:

The dog is better at running.
The fish is better at swimming.
The smaller bird is better at flying.
This is why I don’t advocate for being a “full-stack” developer early in your career, especially if you have less than five years of experience. The reality is, you’re likely to struggle with both.

Front-end and back-end development are two vast, complex domains that require significant time and effort to master. Attempting to tackle both too early can dilute your focus and slow your growth.

Instead, start by choosing one area to specialize in and dedicate yourself to mastering it. Once you’ve built expertise and strong fundamentals in one domain, you can leverage that foundation to learn the other more effectively.
