One Year Honey Moon Is Scriptural

Marriage cannot be well practised if you are not homely. A person who is always away from their spouse defeats the aim of marriage . It is for companionship. You must keep sweet company with them.
Some people are too serious and do not have time for their spouse .

“If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.” (Deuteronomy 24:5 NIV)
Moses the holy man and great leader commanded that even if a nation is facing war, the newly married man must be excused to enjoy time with his wife. He also instructed that apart from exemption from war, nothing else should be forced on the newly married. This is powerful and instructive ! It is definitely wrong the way some people think those who just get married need not spend much time together. Inadequate romantic time is why so many marriages are weak.
A year long honey moon was recommended apparently because the man and his wife need to spend adequate time together feeding each other and their marriage with practical love . This leads to developing a habit of companionship and romance . Once a habit is built , it becomes difficult to break. The good habit of prolonged honey moon sets the tone for their marriage and the marriage continues to draw strength from it. Those who start off their marriage on a sound note of loads of time together are likely to continue on this good path. Before some people misunderstand me, I do understand that work commitments and other obligations can make it hard to have a one year honey moon. What you must do is to intentionally and creatively protect bonding time with your spouse. Find a way to be robustly homely even if it means creatively doing “mobile honey moon” by moving around with your spouse to your busy places. There is always around getting something done if a person really wants it. Start (restart ) with spending quality time together and continue to nurture your marriage with loads of pleasurable companionship. “Honey moon” should never end for you and your spouse through out your marriage. At 100years for Abraham and 90years for Sarah, they were still deeply at it. So, don’t age off through wrong belief and behaviour.
You should not be misled by those who act too professional , too business-engaged or too spiritual by omitting to bond well with their spouse.. They are not your example in this regard.

Prophet Ositelu's legacy continues to inspire millions globally. Renowned for his evangelistic zeal, he emphasized on repentance, salvation and holiness. Under his leadership, The Church of the Lord grew into a dynamic global movement that remains relevant today. Prophet Ositelu's spiritual journey reflects a profound divine calling marked by unwavering commitment, dedication and innovative contributions to both African and global Christianity.

Jealousy and slander. The Bible said that it is unwise to even associate with those who slander. Proverbs 20:19. Apostles Paul and Peter joined James repeatedly to warn Christians and commanded Christians to repent of slander. Ephesians 4:31. Colossians 3:8. 2 Peter 2:1. Therefore, do not slander for it leads to destruction. Let's remember that our Lord, Christ Jesus was slandered and falsely accused of all kinds of offenses. No wonder we are told, "the good person out of his good treasure brings forth good and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil". Therefore, slanderers should get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger and slander along with every form of envy and malice. Ephesians 4:31. Colossians 3:8. Proverbs 16:28. For evil in the heart produces wicked speech and slanderous writeup.

Slanderers include Ayodeji Abodunde are just envious of what God is doing in The Church of the Lord till now. Amongst the three Churches that started The Great Revival of 1930 in Ibadan, only Ositelu's Church - The Church of the Lord Worldwide - is intact. The Precious Stone Church of Joseph Shadare has gone into oblivion and no more in existence. The Faith Tabernacle after internal crises metamorphosed into different factions - The Apostolic Church (TAC), Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and etcetera. But God has since been using Ositelu's Church mightily for His glory. It is on record today that The Church of the Lord Worldwide is the only Church amongst them all that started in the 1920s that is a member of the World Council of Church, WCC based in Geneva, Switzerland; Global Christian Forum, GCF, based in Upper Malboro, Maryland in the United States of America; All African Conference of Churches, AACC based in Nairobi, Kenya, just to mention a few. Right now, the Primate of The Church of the Lord Worldwide is the President of the World Council of Churches from Africa. To God be the glory.

It is quite obvious why they are jealous of Ositelu and the Church he founded. No amount of Jealousy and hatred towards The Church of the Lord Worldwide will be able to change the fact that The Church of the Lord Worldwide is the leading and paramount African-instituted Churches with its headquarters at Ogere Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria. May the good Lord continually use The Church of the Lord Worldwide for His glory in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

After the initial contact with Somoye, Ositelu began to visit him regularly, and a mentor-protégé relationship developed. On Somoye's instruction, Ositelu engaged in long periods of fasting starting in June 1925. As a result, he began to "hear voices and see visions," and meticulously documented the revelations.

According to historian Harold Turner, Ositelu made almost 10,000 entries of revelatory experiences in six massive journals over a period of nine years. These are some of the entries he made between June and November 1925: "I will anoint you as my prophet, even as Elijah anointed Elisha with oil in the olden days, so it shall be unto you." "The Lord will give you a strong constitution, and people will be streaming after you." "Gradually, the seals of power will come to you. Your good time draws on apace. "I will build New Jerusalem in you. Church Gist. You are the one whom Jesus Christ has sent like the last Elijah to repair the Lord's road and make his way straight." "I will give you the key of power like Moses, and will bless you like Job... I am the God of Kah... the God of Jah."

Certain practices, which Turner describes as "mildly unorthodox," emerged in Ositelu's life during this period. This resulted in conflict with his immediate Anglican superiors, who cautioned him repeatedly. Church Gist. When he refused to back down, he was first suspended from his duties as teacher and catechist and later dismissed by the church in February 1926. After his dismissal, he went to work as a clerk in his aunt's shop in Ogere for about a year. He spent most of his time praying and fasting, and documenting the revelations he received. He left Ogere in February 1927 to serve as a disciple under Somoye. He was with Somoye from 1927 to 1929. During this period, Ositelu developed a holy script, which he wrote from right to left, like Arabic. Church Gist. Harold Turner observed that these writings had similarities to "Greek and Syriac forms" and that Ositelu had probably gotten ideas from Arabic and Greek texts. His journals contained drawings and "sealed words" depicted as "diagrams in red and black ink," each having a spiritual meaning. Also, he began using several so-called holy names" for God, which he said had been specially revealed to him. His journals and published writings clearly show that he had been heavily influenced by masonic and occult literature, such as the Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses. Church Gist. Since Samuel Somoye was the major influence on Ositelu during this period and Ositelu acknowledged him as his master, it is important to know who Somoye was.

From about the mid-1920s, several independent evangelists began travelling throughout Yorubaland, presenting themselves as the answer to the growing complaints among Yorubas about the lack of spiritual power in the mission churches. Church Gist. There was clearly a hunger for a more vibrant Christianity that could provide answers to many of the physical and spiritual challenges that people were experiencing. Some of these evangelists were genuinely labouring for the furtherance of the gospel, going about preaching on the power of prayer and exhorting Christians to stop relying on charms. But there were others who, in the quest for spiritual power, delved into occultism and usually styled themselves prophets in the hopes of gaining recognition as powerful spiritual men who had secret knowledge that enabled them to discern and provide solutions to people's problems. Church Gist. Though Somoye's personal story is obscure, he certainly belonged to the latter group. We know that before launching out on his own, he had been a disciple of another travelling evangelist and that he professed to have supernatural experiences. Somoye was certainly deeply involved in occultism while openly preaching the basic tenets of Christianity. One can only imagine what Ositelu was exposed to during his years of training under him. After leaving Somoye, Ositelu launched out on his own in June 1929, with his base in Ogere.

DID HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF?

...Perhaps to make doubly sure of his genuineness, Sadare wanted him to submit to baptism (immersion) by Faith Tabernacle leaders, but Ositelu demurred, stating that he had been baptized by the Spirit.

He was a remarkable figure in the early days of Pentecostalism in Nigeria. His fame even briefly eclipsed that of Joseph Babalola but then some leaders began to notice that something was not right.

On January 23, 1931, all the key figures in the budding Pentecostal movement in Yoruba Land met in Ibadan at the residence of Isaac Akinyele to resolve a burning issue. Church Gist. In attendance were Joseph Sadare, Isaac Akinyele, David Odubanjo, Joseph Babalola, Daniel Orekoya, Sophia Odunlami, J. A. Babatope, Jacob Ade Aina, Josiah Ositelu and others. It was a tense meeting, which lasted from 7:00 p.m. to about 4:00 am. This kind of meeting was not unusual. One of the notable features of the Pentecostal movement in Yoruba Land in its early days, was the commitment of its key figures to debate doctrine until they had arrived at what they believed was the biblical position. Church Gist. Virtually all of them were leaders in the Faith Tabernacle movement, and they were known for their solid commitment to the Scriptures. One scholar aptly called them "sober debaters." In addition to Pentecostal literature, they were conversant with the works of notable evangelical thinkers such as Charles Finney, Oswald J. Smith, E. M. Bounds, Charles Spurgeon, John Wesley, and J. C. Ryle. The meeting was called to discuss some of the doctrines and ideas that were being practised and propagated by Josiah Ositelu, whose healing and evangelistic career came into the limelight around 1930.

Ositelu was born in 1902 to an ljebu family from Ogere. He came from a non-Christian family, and it was at school that he became a Christian. He was baptised in 1914 with the name "Josiah" and confirmed eight years later. Church Gist. By 1919, he had completed his elementary education at an Anglican school in ljebu Ode. Afterwards, he was employed as a pupil teacher and served in various schools from this time till 1925. Between 1921 and 1923, he trained as a catechist under an Anglican minister in a village near Ogere and afterwards worked as both teacher and catechist. In 1925, he was posted to a village called Erekute, where he carried out his duties without incident until he had a strange experience that would alter the course of his life. As he recounted, in a vision, he saw "a large eye reflecting as a great orbit of the sun." He was terrified and fled to the house of an elder in the church, spending the rest of the night there. After narrating his experience to all the elders the following day, he was advised to return to his family in Ogere for a while. Church Gist. Back at home, his mother consulted several medicine men, but none of them could help him. The strange experiences persisting, he returned to Erekute, where those who sympathised with his predicament suggested that he visit one Samuel Somoye an evangelist who lived near Erekute, with a reputation for being well versed in supernatural experiences. After Ositelu narrated his ordeal, which he believed were attacks from witches and wizards, Somoye calmed his fears and convinced him that the experiences were a sign that God was calling him into His service. He instructed him to stop using the charms that he had resorted to, and to begin reading certain psalms and praying with fasting. Ositelu experienced some relief after following these instructions. As far as we know, until May 1925 when he had the first visionary experience, Ositelu had faithfully followed Anglican doctrine. However, his relationship with Somoye would significantly shape his theology from this time onwards. Church Gist.

However, as Faith Tabernacle leaders related more closely with Ositelu, they observed several things that troubled them, one of which was the use of holy names and strange words. It is unclear when exactly they first noticed these aberrations, but they had obviously known for a while before deciding to confront the issue. Probably, they were initially willing to give Ositelu the benefit of the doubt considering the results of their collaboration. But perhaps after further reflection and comparing notes, they concluded that something was fundamentally wrong.

A congress was held on January 23, 1931 to deliberate on their concerns. Faith Tabernacle leaders, Ositelu, and also Faith Tabernacle delegates from several towns were in attendance. Church Gist. Several issues were raised, but the main thrust of the meeting was challenging Ositelu's claims of having secret knowledge and personal revelation from God that had no Scriptural basis. Joseph Sadare complained about Ositelu's tendency to exaggerate the results of his ministry and his fixation with publicly identifying witches. Isaac Akinyele thought that the so-called holy names provided no spiritual benefit and stated, "There is no use in calling these names. Christ came and showed us His real name and as we are promised everything in the name of Christ, all other names should be left aside." Joseph Babalola said that he had initially not given much thought to Ositelu's use of the names and strange words, but that some events forced him to investigate its origins. He said that Ositelu's main assistant, who had also been a disciple of Somoye, told him that they were in the bush for some years tormenting themselves and that they had received the names during that period. Church Gist. Babalola therefore concluded that the names could not be from God and should no longer be used. Sophia Odunlami condemned the use of the holy names and strange words and also said Ositelu had made advances to her feigning prophetic revelation.

Daniel Orekoya found it strange that some of the people who had been healed through his ministry experienced a relapse after visiting Ositelu for prayers. J. A. Babatope simply thought the use of the strange words was childish nonsense. Church Gist. David Odubanjo said the strange names and words were clearly from Satan and that Ositelu's duplicity would be exposed in due course.

It is doubtful that Faith Tabernacle leaders knew what they were actually dealing with at the time. There is no indication that at that point they were familiar with occult symbols and ideas or that they made any connection between Ositelu's practices and occult literature. Church Gist. They must have assumed that Ositelu was a genuine Christian evangelist who had erred in some fundamental ways and could be persuaded as a brother to see his error. Unfortunately, they were dealing with a full-blown occultist in the guise of a revivalist. They certainly realised this afterwards, but not at the time of the congress. Corresponding with Odubanjo some years after this, one Faith Tabernacle member made this scathing remark about Ositelu and his followers: "God in his mercy cut them off... mere spiritualists." Ositelu denied all the charges brought against him and said that accusing him of heresy was blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Church Gist. He defended himself using verses such as Ezekiel 39:7 in a twisted way. Finally, he said, "The only thing to be done now is that everybody should mind his own business. I would not venture to go into details concerning the origin of these names. As there is nobody willing to be responsible for quenching the Spirit, nobody can therefore keep me from the use of the Holy Names. There is but one tree and there are many branches." This marked the end of the relationship between Faith Tabernacle leaders and Josiah Ositelu. Historian Robert Mitchell superbly summarised this parting of ways: "The Faith Tabernacle emphasis upon biblical authority was incongruent with the personal authority Ositelu felt God had granted him." Church Gist.

Strangely, Jacob Ade Aina was swayed by Ositelu's arguments and eventually sided with him; and so he had to leave the Faith Tabernacle.

In rejecting Josiah Ositelu's ministry, Faith Tabernacle leaders laid down certain principles that safeguarded the integrity of the nascent Pentecostal movement: Despite evidence of supernatural manifestations, if a person believes and defends doctrines that are unbiblical, their ministry should be rejected. Church Gist. A leader's unwillingness to submit personal revelation to scrutiny or to discuss or debate a doctrine or practice that other trustworthy leaders consider questionable should be seen as a red flag. Ositelu went on to establish the Church of the Lord (Aladura) on a hotchpotch of occult ideas and practices and Christian teachings. His published prophecies for certain years, starting in 1931, show a deeply twisted mind. Besides other clearly unchristian ideas and practices, he married at least seven wives. He and his followers embarked on evangelistic campaigns, which resulted in the spread of the church to Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom within a few decades. Church Gist. By the time he died on July 12, 1966, he had created a template for occultists who wanted to use the Christian church to legitimize and expand their platform.

THE REJOINDER BY THE CHURCH OF THE LORD ALADURA

Our attention has been drawn to a story published on YouTube by the one named Ayodeji Abodunde. The said Ayodeji in his documentary presented a distorted history of events which is defamatory of the person and institution represented by our late founder and first primate Pa Josiah Olunowo Ositelu of blessed memory. The story which he must have writtenbased on information he could access and which without any doubt he distorted consists of true and false information.

Around 1920s, there was no Pentecostal movement or pioneers in Yoruba Land. What we had then was Aladura Movement. Egbe Aladura of which was made of Precious Stone or Diamond Society, "Okura Iyebiye" led by Joseph Shadare, Faith Tabernacle led by Akinyele, The Church of the Lord led by Josiah Olunowo Ositelu and Cherubim and Seraphim Society led by Moses Orimolade. Amongst the four groups, only the first three worked together which resulted in The Great Revival in Ibadan in 1930. What was very interesting about the first three groups is that only the Ositelu's group, The Church of the Lord remains intact till today. The Faith Tabernacle broke into different factions including the The Apostolic Church (TAC), Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), etcetera. The Diamond Society of Shadare has gone into oblivion and therefore no more in existence.

While they were working together, only Josiah Ositelu was a Bible student. He was a catechist in the Anglican Church. All other contemporaries received the knowledge of the Scripture through Sunday School and Church tracts from the Faith Tabernacle in the USA. This is no wonder when they say that speaking in tongues is not Biblical which is due to their limited knowledge. Today, the CAC people speak in tongues which was rejected by Joseph Babalola and the reason why they parted with Ositelu in 1931. The reference to Baba Ositelu as a cultist sheds Ayodeji as someone with a shallow depth of knowledge. He's advised to go and read the true history of the man whose story he sought to tell in a publication - The Oracle of God, Josiah Olunowo: An African Prophet. It is available on eBay. He should read more books and contact us for more information.

Prophet, Superintendent, General, Most Reverend Dr. Josiah Olunowo Ositelu fondly remembered as the Oracle of God Almighty was an extraordinary African Prophet and servant leader. He was the founder and first primate of the Church of the Lord, TCL Worldwide, established in 1925 and formally inaugurated in 1930, a transformative figure in African Christianity.

From the evidence of his considerably long career, it is clear that he maximised whatever lessons he got from Somoye, putting them to use in ways that even Somoye could only have dreamed of. This was made possible by his strong sense of ambition, thirst for knowledge, pathological self-absorption, resilience and charisma.

Ositelu was described as having a "most magnetic and compelling personality." This journal entry by Ositelu, made prior to launching out, gives us some insight into his thinking in general: "The day of destruction has come. tell the people of Judah your God has come. Church Gist. He has been waiting long for the power of God; he's been searching for knowledge of the Almighty. He waited and has been crowned. The righteous Elijah hath come. The forerunner of the Lord, to prepare His way. I was put on a high mountain and given authority to own from Ogere to ljebu Ode to Ikorodu to Abeokuta to Ibadan to Owode. Ogere is the appointed place. We shall build a house of God in Judah and make every part of it a happy place, to make known the glory of God."

Ositelu spent a considerable amount of time in open-air preaching, calling people to repent and turn to God. His first sermon had a ten-point outline, each beginning with the phrase, "Hear the Gospel of Joy!" Overall, his messages were focused on God's displeasure with idolatry, healing through the power of prayer, securing God's blessings through obedience, and the establishment of God's kingdom. Church Gist. Contemporary reports show that he had an outstanding gift of prophecy. On the surface, his message wouldn't have set alarm bells ringing. By mid-1930, Ositelu's activities had attracted the attention of key figures in the Faith Tabernacle movement. Faith Tabernacle leaders had been consistently praying for revival for about seven years and always welcomed reports of spiritual outpouring. About a year earlier, they had received a similar report about Joseph Babalola, who was at the time unknown beyond Ilofa, his hometown. After some investigation to ascertain that his call and ministry were biblical, they fully embraced him, baptised him, and began supporting him. It was during a Faith Tabernacle congress in Ilesa that the famous 1930 revival broke out. Now it seemed God had raised another person with a ministry like that of Babalola, and they were excited. Church Gist. Some Faith Tabernacle leaders visited Ositelu to personally observe his ministry and to ask questions. Isaac Akinyele and Joseph Babalola visited Ositelu in Ogere in July 1930. Jacob Ade Aina visited him in August. Joseph Sadare hosted him in ljebu Ode in August. It is unlikely that these initial interactions could have afforded them the opportunity to see through Ositelu's carefully crafted public image.

Ositelu was a master manipulator, and in a bid to expand his influence, likely concealed the aspects of his operations he knew would raise doubts in their minds. Besides Sadare's aversion to Ositelu's obsession with witch-finding, it seems they came away with a generally positive opinion of his ministry. Perhaps to make doubly sure of his genuineness, Sadare wanted him to submit to baptism by Faith Tabernacle leaders, but Ositelu demurred, stating that he had been baptised by the Spirit. Church Gist. The Faith Tabernacle platform was thus thrown wide open to him. This was the peak of the 1930 revival, and Ositelu's ministry brought added zest to an already combustible revival atmosphere. There was a continuous coming and going between the revival centres. Stop Wishing Death on Fathers of Faith

The yearly prophecy of “I see a father of faith called home to glory this year” must stop in 2025. Isaac was so old that he could barely see when he was blessing Jacob because he was stricken with years. That was how long in the positive he lived. God is able to make the fathers of faith enjoy longevity too. Do not fight fathers of faith carnally even if you disagree with them. God loves them too and is able to correct them where they might benefit from that.
Professor Wole Soyinka is yet to be a Christian and is now 90 years old and said he does not feel it (I wish him well). So,is it too much for God to also keep fathers of faith to 90years and far beyond?
Focus on the message and do not be resentful . What we must call-out seriously are false prophets and teachers who mislead people. And this requires deep discernment which unfortunately many seem to lack. I have observed honourable people embrace people that are obviously of questionable operations and spirit. Occultic and other satanic operations are worthy of exposure. Those who have this true capacity to discern and call out agents of darkness operating as priests must not be crucified as being too judgemental. Leave fathers of faith alone in 2025.

I said he is not my friend, we are just schoolmates. They started laughing and these were men who were drunkards. They can tell who your friend is. You hide your Christianity and you want God to open up for you? Never! Mind the company you keep.

Amnon was a son of David, he had a friend called Jonadab, a son of Belial. Jonadab helped to dig his grave. No devil will succeed to dig your grave. So mind the people you walk with. Young people, when the Bible says be not unequally yoked with unbelievers "don't say I know he will be saved." You will be lost before he is saved. Stop that. Church Gist. God has a grandiose plan for you, don't let anyone carry you away with money or car. What is money and car? If my wife was looking for a car, she wouldn't marry me. WHY I DON’T WANT TO MARRY A PASTOR.

Hey sis, Can we talk?
What exactly is the problem? And I’m speaking to my Christian sisters oo….
Why the fear? Why the condition? Why the sentiment? Yet, you are praying for God’s will? 🫠

Some of you are like Jasmine (read the previous story) but do you even understand what it means to be a pastor's wife? Imagine Eve telling Adam she didn’t want to be his wife because she can not share him with the animals🥺. Let’s look at Genesis. It was only after God gave Adam work, that He made him a ‘helper’. One of Eve’s sole reasons for being here was to help that Man whom God had given work. Should it not mean something that God would look upon you and choose you (yes you reading this) to help that Man to whom He has given work?
You need to see it as a ministry and a calling so you understand the gravity of what you are going into. I have so much respect for women like Pastor Sarah Omakwu and Arch Bishop Margret Idahosa. See how they have gracefully carried on the work God gave their husbands.
And to think about it, You can’t be praying for God’s will and be picking and choosing how the will comes. By doing that, you are already limiting God and the plans He has for you.
Bishop David Oyedepo would say ‘Your future is in His (God's) plan and not in your plan’. He tells a story of how he had great plans for his life but what God has done with him now is far more than any plan he could ever have.
What am I saying, you can’t be praying for God’s will and be giving Him terms and conditions.
Secondly, if all you sisters are running away, who should now marry the pastors? Ehn? Who? And the same you will come out to say vile things about her or how she is destroying the Church. Lol
Lastly, God doesn’t need you to be perfect. God will use you as you are. The man of God doesn’t need a perfect woman but a willing woman.
Let your prayer change to ‘Lord, help me and give me grace to be the helper you want me to be to your servant’

Stop following the crowd
Stop following trends
Allow God to lead you
Allow God to use you.

LANDMARK UNIVERSITY EMERGES BEST PRIVATE UNIVERSITY OF THE YEAR 2024 IN ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT.

71 STUDENTS BAG FIRST CLASS, THE HIGHEST IN THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL AS LANDMARK UNIVERSITY GRADUATES 678 STUDENTS

Landmark University, Omu-Aran, One of the Leading Universities in Nigeria graduates 678 students comprising of 617 undergraduates and 61 post graduates students.

The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Prof. Kolawole O. Ajanuku while giving his speech during the 11th Convocation Ceremony "THE RELEASE OF PATHFINDERS 2024" held today, Friday 1st November, 2024 announced that 71 undergraduate students came out with First Class Honours. Church Gist. According to him, this was the highest since the inception of the University. 283 came out with Second Class Upper; 252 with Second Class Lower while 11 came out with Third Class.

He also noted that 11 graduated at the Ph.D level, 6 from Masters and 11 from PGD making a total of 61 post graduate students.

He also stated that Landmark University was ranked according to the Times Higher Education University World Ranking as Number 2 (shared with other Universities) in Nigeria, 3rd in West Africa, 11th in Sub-Saharan Africa. Church Gist. Landmark University also came out 2nd in Research Environment and 2nd in Research Quality in Nigeria. He also stated that this was the first time, Landmark University would be entering into the World University Ranking Evaluation.

DAMINA PREVENTED NON-TITHERS IN HIS CHURCH FROM TAKING COMMUNION

Now communion is snacks and churches that receive tithes are fraudsters.

Concerning Abel Damina and his revelations....

I worshipped in Damina's church for almost one year in 2012 while living in Uyo. I didn't like his so much emphasis on money then.

In his church, only people who pay tithe take communion. I knew better because of my background. I didn't ever try to start talking about it online or so. I know how to receive the good teaching and sieve out the chaff. That's how love works in Christianity. Nobody used him as topic. Everyone minded their business and let the worshippers choose what they prefer.

All his messages trying to expose or correct does not happen without mocking one or two persons who he feels are in error.

The bad thing about that kind of general mockery without specifics, you give the public the very fabric to castigate or pull anyone they seem not to agree with under the tent.

Damina's radical turn began after he went for retreat. According to him. It was the book of Andrew Wommack that lighted him up. Andrew Wommack is still much alive and runs a big ministry in USA yet he is not attacking or spiting anyone. When you listen to him, you feel warmth and love that the Bible teaches.

......

We dont have to agree on doctrines. Christianity is a progressive religion that encourages diverse views but Damina tries to make all believe only his doctrine is the true one.

Trust me, in the next 10 years, you will see another preacher with superior revelation countering him too that he will not even be able to defend. That's the progression of Christianity.

He should learn wisdom from Apostle Paul. Paul once rebuked Peter in public for not accepting fully the gentiles which was against His revelation. I believe he had a lot of opposition in those early days of his spiritual growth but by the time he was approaching the end of his ministry, he advised Timothy never to rebuke elders in public but go in secret to discuss with them on any matter of conflict.

Instead of fostering growth, his sermons are festering suspicion, disrespect and resentment against other preachers unlike him. However terrible those preachers might be to him, they won souls to God. They helped many know God for the first time. At least they got that right. Other things are secondary whether mansion is in heaven or not, tithe or not tithe etc.

Let's give it time, in few years time, you will see how this will end. Trust me. It's a pattern. Daddy Freeze Sheeple movement, how far?

Anyone who has been in ministry for more than 30 years and still standing, respect him. Even if you think he's teaching in error, there is something he knows that is working for him.

Just teach your teach without spiting others. If the new preachers did in 1970s what Damina is doing now, they won't be here today. If you love Damina's teachings, go to his church and be a member. Serve there faithfully and evangelise appropriately. No human is the referee of the church. Jesus is the owner not any man.

When you catch a new revelation, the first thing to do is to practice it and see its efficacy in your life and ministry. You prove it for a long time. See its workings on the lives of your disciples too, then you can go mainstream with it. What I see as Damina's disciples are something like opposition parties not sounding like believers marked mostly by "love" instead it's attention seeking, casting strive, disrespect, divisiveness and more.

Some of the things he is saying now, Pastor Chris has been teaching for years to his church members. Did you see him calling other preacher names for not teaching so. It's a huge turnoff for me to put others down in attempt to lay emphasis no matter what you are teaching. Check Jesus naaaa. Is that how he taught?

We have a generation that loves the spectacular, Damina is giving it to them. Let's see how long his reign will last.

What's heavy in the air? “Very thick, very thick - whenever I close my eyes, it's as if it wants to choke me. Choke you! Man up! Man up! Enter the place smiling. They don't know you prepared before you came.

Somebody said to me, “Papa, I need to move out of that place.” I said, what's the problem? He said, “my neighbour is burning one kind of incense.” I said, the next one you want to move to, what if he has a shr1ne? You move again to the third one. The third one is a native doctor himself. Church Gist. Where will you move to now? To the fourth one and that one is a grand w1zard. No! I told him, occupy. I told him, they don't chase you away, you chase them away. You chase them out of there. They did incantation before they came, you spoke in tongues before you came. They poured charms before you came, pour communion you come. What's wrong with you?

Esther was not competing with other Christian sisters. It wasn't other fellow believers. “Brethren, please, let's remember we are brethren.” No! Church Gist. Esther was competing with people who were daughters of magicians; who were daughters of charmers and enchanters. People they prepared well before they sent. Who doesn't want to have a foothold in the palace?

COVENANT AND LANDMARK EMERGE MOST AFFORDABLE AMONG LEADING UNIVERSITIES IN AFRICA

Long held wrong beliefs usually stay in the minds of their staunch believers even in the face of clear scientific and empirical evidence. As an Anglican boy, I was made to believe there was no real growth among the Pentecostal fold in Nigeria. I was told that it was the same people moving from one church to another for programs. Today we know that it is not the same crowd that attends Glory Reign in Port Harcourt that attends MFM Prayer City at Mowe for Power Must Change Hands neither is it those on ground at Shiloh that are on ground at the same time at RCCG Congress.

In the same vein, some years ago, I was accosted by an acquaintance with an article from a blog-LIB telling us how Covenant University (CU) was the most expensive in Nigeria. I corrected his impression with a phone call to the University and today his sister is a first class Eagle🦅 from the Accounting Department of CU but after 13 years, the same story is still being peddled about especially anytime we hear about the number of first class degrees from the universities. A fortnight ago, CU produced 339 first class graduates and this weekend, Landmark University (LMU) is going to produce a new set of Pathfinders which will include some first class graduates.

As usual, the fake news people and false alarmists are ready to go amok with news that this is a result of expensive school fees in order to buy good degrees. In the light of this, a research was carried out by the Church Gist team based on the 2023/2024 university session on the comparative cost of university education in Nigeria according to information sourced from the websites of all Nigerian universities.
This research was done on 3 levels.

Number 1-
Comparative cost of all 152 private universities in Nigeria vis a vis their latest recorded rankings.

Number 2-.
Comparative cost of the top 23 universities in Nigeria for 2025 according to Times Higher Education (THE) ranking.

Number 3
The comparative cost of the top 19 universities in Africa for 2025 according to THE ranking.

Easily noticeable is how CU and LMU stuck out in terms of their comparatively low fees vis a vis their high rankings.

Among about 152 private universities in Nigeria, CU and LMU which are first and joint second in terms of position in Nigeria on the Times Higher Education ranking are ranked 38th and 123rd most expensive of the 139 universities recorded. Information on the remaining 13 weren't available on their websites at the time of this research.

Inference drawn from the list implies that CU and LMU despite being the only private universities ranked high in Nigeria charge much lower than many other private universities in Nigeria. In particular, CU is not included among the highest 30% while LMU which boasts of accommodation for all her students charges the 16th lowest private varsity fees making her among the cheapest 11% of private universities in spite of the fact that she is ranked joint second in Nigeria.

CU and LMU are by far both the best private universities in Nigeria at the moment.

Some Nigerian universities charge between 4 and 10 million naira annually yet are not anywhere high up on the rankings.

However among the top 23 universities in Nigeria, CU stood out as number one in ranking terms and also number 1 in cost of fees which implies value for money. LMU however which is joint second ranks even lower than a public university on the list in cost but much higher in performance which implies that when cost is juxtaposed with performance, LMU could well be the most affordable qualitative private university in Nigeria along with CU.

Note also that for public universities, the cost of their acceptance fee was excluded. Also, accomodation cost was not included as it depends on the area the university is located. Generally universities in the North excluding the Capital-Abuja, have cheaper accomodation costs while those in the South have much higher costs. For example a decent accomodation in University of Lagos especially for those staying outside the campus due to limited facilities on campus will cost between 400,000 and 1 million or more and this automatically changes the dynamics. It could be lower in other universities but still increases their fees significantly and closes the seeming gap between public and private universities.

More interesting is that among the leading universities in Africa, the fees of CU are by far the lowest as can be seen on the table. All except 2 universities on the list of the best in Africa have fees of between $2000 and $18,000 annually while only two have fees below $2000. Of the two universities on that list, CU is the lowest and costs less than $1000 which is less than half of the second lowest on this elite list. Consequently it can be implied that, for ant African considering a very affordable world class university, CU is the 'go to' place in Africa. She also ranks among the youngest African universities on the list. Considering that the number 1 university on the list is about 550 years, it shows that with time, CU has potential to go much higher on the list in line with the dreams of its visioner, Dr David Oyedepo to build a world class university in every sense of the word in Africa.

We want to talk about, "The Power of Choice." The Power of Choice, why? Because life is all about choices and the corresponding repercussions of choices. Whatever you are today is primarily the results of what you chose yesterday. Whatever you are today is because of the choices you made yesterday. Church Gist. For example, if a student is very good in the secondary school in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, depending on the choice of that pupil, he could end up a Medical Doctor, he could end up an Engineer. He can decide which kind of Engineer: Mechanical, Civil, etc. or he could end up a very good teacher, can even become a professor, professor of Physics, Chemistry or Biology etc. Even if he chose to do Medicine, he could still end up a Dentist or another section of Medicine.

Whatever you are today is as a result of the choices you made yesterday. For example, in Genesis 25:29-34, Esau was asked to make a choice between food and his inheritance based on him being the firstborn. He chose food. When the time came for blessings in Genesis 27:1-37, because he had already sold his birthright, the one to whom he sold the birthright is the one who got the blessing. Church Gist. So many at times we hear people say that Jacob stole the blessing of Esau, no, he didn't steal. Esau sold the blessing years before. It is very important for us to know what we chose yesterday is what made us what we are today and whatever we choose today will determine what we will become tomorrow.

Now it will interest you to know that basically you have only two options in life. Every choice is between only two options: light and darkness. Those are the two options. As a matter of fact, if you see a big computer working, you see the whole thing blinking, blinking, blinking and what's happening is that the computer is just choosing between two things: light on, light off, light on, light off, light on. That's what the twinkling is about. Church Gist. Life is only made up of two options: only two, up or down, forward or backward, right or wrong, blessings or curses. "Oh no, what do you mean by backward or forward? What if I decide to stand still?" The moment you say you choose to stand still, it means you have chosen to go backwards. "How can that be? I can stay on one spot." No! If a child is in form two this year and he is in form two again next year, he has already gone backward. You mean what? You say, "How come?" His colleagues, his classmates had already moved on to form three and his juniors in form one had caught up with him? You can't stand still. Church Gist. A choice to say, I stand still is a choice to say I want to go backward. It's either forward or backward.

It's either a choice between obedience and disobedience. Only two, only two. Church Gist. The entire world, the entire life, is always between two choices: sickness or health, joy or sorrow, success or failure, always two, always two. Isaiah 1:19.

- By this anointing today, there shall be no further breaking of your heart in the name of Jesus Christ!

1 Corinthians 14:18, Philippians 1:15-18, Philippians 4:4, 1 Thessalonians 5:16. He (Paul) has an experience with it. And the anointing is one vital source of unimpeded joy, ever growing joy. Church Gist. In Psalm 45, the Bible calls it, the oil of gladness. The anointing is the oil of gladness and one way to facilitate that oil is through praise as a lifestyle.

- So as the anointing comes on your life today, in the precious name of Jesus, from today forward, your head will not be bowed down!
- In the precious name of Jesus, from today forward, your hands will ever be lifted praising God!

The way out of the valley is to praise your way out. You can't come out of the valley without praises that emanate from the heart honouring Jesus because He has committed Himself to bail you out. Church Gist. Like He did for Paul and Silas, you are coming out in the name of Jesus!

So reach out today for one thing. “Lord, I desire that the anointing today will be to me the oil of joy, the oil of gladness and the garment of praise and let it destroy every trace of dépréssion around my life. Church Gist. Because I know that you are committed to my rescue, you are committed to my freedom and I thank you for it.” When that becomes your way of life, forget about the devil.

- The truth here this morning is this, by this anointing, you are entering a new phase of your life!
- You are entering into a new phase of your life!
- A phase of joy and rejoicing!
- A phase of blessing the Lord at all times and His praise continually in your mouth!
- That is the new phase you are entering into!

What a joy? When that happens, you gain continuous access to the secret of the Word. Jeremiah 15:16. So when you are saved, you have the fruit of joy. Church Gist. When you are baptized in the Holy Ghost, you have the oil of joy and you gain access to the Word of God, you gain access to joy and rejoicing. So you are a bundle of joy by redemption.

Can I have you say with me? “I am a bundle of joy by redemption. I refuse to sell off my birthright. From this day forward, joy and rejoicing becomes my new way of life.” In case you are in any valley today, you say to yourself before God; “I’m coming out of this valley as I keep celebrating my God and His faithfulness. Church Gist. My time to be out has finally come. My prison doors are opened. My chains are falling off. The fetters are broken up. I'm free at last. I'm free forever.” You start celebrating God like that, that is what makes it happen.

God led us to this Forest against all odds. They were more than willing to sell sir. In fact, some wanted to sell their house along. They were over willing. You know why? God led us here. In no time, we got 530 acres of land. What? Church Gist. In a jungle of devils before the eyes of the devil. When God leads, no devil can stop the way. Be committed to His leading as a way of life. Proverbs 3:5-6.

You want to enjoy open doors as a way of life? Keep following what He says. Church Gist. God never leads backward, He always leads forward. Psalm 23:1-6, Isaiah 48:21.

- Your days of dry seasons are over!

Some fellows, they are just about hitting one major breakthrough in their business, they switch over to another one to start all over again. Church Gist. And without God, gasping, gasping and gasping. That will not be you anymore!

Keep craving for fresh unction which is also facilitated by praise. Fresh oil will keep you going against all odds. For the yoke on your path shall be destroyed because of the anointing. The fresher the oil, the stronger the impact. Church Gist. So stay committed to a lifestyle of praise and your head will never lack fresh oil and no barrier can stand on your path. That's how to keep enjoying open doors in the journey of life.

Finally, be committed to serving God and the interest of His Kingdom as a lifestyle. Why? When you get into that, He said, “lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 8:31. When you are on the go with God, He goes with you. When you are after His business, you will become His business. That's what He does. Church Gist. “And as they entered into that covenant, He gave them rest round about.” So no door was able to be shut against them. It's your turn! Matthew 6:33.

- It's your turn!

Being the third Sunday of the month, it's our Special Monthly Anointing Service and I want you to please recognize this: Among the blessedness of the anointing is supernatural joy. Isaiah 61:1,3.

- By the anointing of this morning, depression shall be destroyed from any life!
- All tendencies for dépréssion shall be destroyed!

Note that, you cannot be oppressed until you are first depressed. Dépréssion is an environment for the devil to work while joy and rejoicing is an environment for God to intervene. So when you subscribe or subject yourself to dépréssion, you are creating an avenue for the devil to work against you. Church Gist. Dèpréssion is a spirit. So the anointing gives us the garment of praise in the place of the spirit of heaviness (the spirit of dépréssion).

Watch, the oil of joy for mourning. So where people mourn, you are rejoicing. Isaiah 61:3. So we must put on joy and rejoicing and the garment of praise to secure that new name that gives glory to God.

- Therefore expect today by this anointing that the spirit of dépréssion shall be destroyed from the root!
- That your head will no longer be cast down!
- That your hands will ever be lifted up in praise of God!

If you are in a ditch and they throw a lifeline to you, you have to raise your hand because they can't put that rope on your neck, you will die. Church Gist. So when your head is cast down, your hand cannot be raised up. So you are left in the valley to see how much you can survive.

- But you are going out!
- You are coming out today!
- I curse the root of the spirit of heaviness in any life in the name of Jesus!

Jesus was given the Holy Spirit without measure and the Bible said, “and Jesus rejoiced in Spirit.” John 3:34, Luke 10:21…that was His lifestyle - joy that emanates from the spirit man. Proverbs 18:14.
