Subject: Request for Reduction in NTET Qualifying Marks from 50 to 35 Due to Deviation in Question Paper Structure

Respected Sir/Madam,

I, am a candidate who appeared for the National Teacher Eligibility Test (NTET) conducted under the aegis of NCISM, respectfully bring to your attention a matter of great concern regarding the fairness of the recently held examination.

The official syllabus and prior communications regarding the NTET question paper explicitly indicated that approximately 40 questions would fall under the “easy” category, ensuring a balanced distribution of difficulty levels. However, the actual paper did not align with these guidelines. Many candidates, including myself, found that the question paper was disproportionately difficult, with no discernible “easy” section as promised.

This deviation has unfairly impacted the ability of candidates to achieve the qualifying score of 50 marks, especially since preparation strategies were based on the expectations set forth in the official guidelines.

In light of this, I humbly request the following:
1. A reduction in the qualifying threshold from 50 marks to 35 marks for this iteration of the NTET, ensuring fairness for all candidates affected by the deviation.
2. An independent review of the question paper to evaluate its alignment with the prescribed guidelines and advertised difficulty distribution.
3. Greater transparency and clarity in future examinations to avoid such discrepancies.

Supporting Points:
• The lack of promised “easy” questions placed undue stress on candidates, adversely affecting their performance.
• Eligibility tests should primarily focus on assessing baseline competency, which becomes challenging when the structure unexpectedly favors only advanced difficulty levels.
• Several precedents exist where adjustments have been made to the qualifying criteria in response to unforeseen examination discrepancies.

This request is not made lightly but in the spirit of upholding the principles of fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity that NCISM stands for.

I trust that you will take this matter into serious consideration and provide a resolution that ensures justice for all candidates.
