It has been 13 years (May 2011) since 13-year-old Syrian boy Hamza al-Khatib was brutally tortured and killed by Assad's security forces.
Hamza was arrested on 29 April 2011 during a protest in East Saida, Daraa province. Almost a month later, Hamza's body was returned to his family on May 24. His body was severely mutilated by extreme torture.
Hamza spent nearly a month in the custody of Assad's security forces, and when they finally returned his body to his family, his body bore only signs of brutal torture;
"He suffered injuries to his legs, bruises and burns to his knees, elbows, electric shocks to his face and shots to both arms.
Hamza's neck was broken and he had a deep burn mark on his chest, his eyes were swollen and blackened. His genitals were cut and mutilated.

Iranian Judiciary said Monday it has executed Jamshid Sharmahd, the chieftain of Tondar terrorist group on charges of heading terrorist attacks in Iran at the order of Western states and Israeli regime intelligence services.
The Iranian Judiciary said that Sharmahd faced justice for its crimes and was executed on Monday morning.
Sharmahd had been convicted of heading a pro-monarchist group named Tondar accused of a deadly bombing incident that occurred in 2008 at Hosseiniyeh in Shiraz, martyring 14 and injuring 215 more.

The United States had no influence in how Israel chose its targets in Iran, Benjamin Netanyahu has said. The prime minister said his country chose where to strike based on “national interests, not according to what American dictates”.
Netanyahu’s office issued the statement in response to a “completely false” local television report that Israel had avoided striking Iranian gas and oil facilities because of US pressure.
President Biden said that he hoped the unprecedented wave of Israeli airstrikes launched on Iran on Saturday would mark “the end” of escalation between the two foes.
