So are you sure you still want to find out a person's true nature and real character? Even when they themselves likely don't know, or refuse to admit it, will likely hate you if they find out, and when it has a chance cause you or those you care about harm and no small amount of suffering?

Knowledge is power after all, and with power comes responsibility.

And all knowledge is also a double-edged sword, too. As you shouldn't share all you know, and you must be tactful and careful when speaking about something you know. Most conversations will become like tiptoeing through landmines. Especially so, the closer you are to someone. And the more you know, the more self-control you need to exhibit, and the more you need to be self-aware so that should you share what you know, you must not be guilty of the same if it's bad, and you should be actively practising it if it's good.

It is a sad fact that most people never even learn their own true character or their real face, let alone reveal it. I've known 70 year olds who still put on a show for everyone to see as though they're perfect, but the moment they're no longer in the spotlight, they act deplorably or arrogantly.

So many people don't consciously know who they truly are at their core. And one can't knowingly reveal what they themselves do not know, afterall.

That said, it's possible to determine or at least come close to finding out what a person's truly like simply by observing them, asking a few questions, and holding no less than 3 conversations.

A few things to keep in mind before attempting to find out a person's true nature, though. Especially if they don't know it themselves.

First, you must remain impartial and emotionally uninvolved while attempting to discern their true nature. If you aren't, and you allow bias to enter into your deliberations, you will see what you want to see, and not what is really there. This is sometimes called the “puppy dog” affect.

Second, this isn't an exact science, and you'll have to use your best, unbiased judgement for how to proceed and how to get the best results. I can provide some pointers and forewarnings, as well as provide guidance, but ultimately you'll be the one running the tests and finding the results. Not I or anyone else.

Third, they must not know what you are doing while you are doing it, because that will skew the results. If they know or find out, then they will put up their guard and put on a fake face whenever they think you're near or will hear of something. This only complicates matters and lengthens the process. So only after you get your results should you reveal what you were doing, if ever.

Fourth, know what you're testing them on. Are you trying to see if they’re Honest? Transparent? Confident? Cowards? Hypocrites? Cheaters? Sex fiends? Violent? Or other? What you're trying to find out will determine what you do and how you find out.

Fifth, remember that whatever morals or standards you hold to others, they will hold right back to you. Meaning that if you are trying to find out if someone is a cheater, when you yourself have been cheating, they will see that and see you as scum for judging them when you are guilty of the same. This will make you a hypocrite and detestable. So make sure that whatever you're trying to find out about others, you must make sure you found it out about yourself first and addressed it as appropriate. If you wish to help someone no longer be addicted to something, you can't be addicted to anything yourself anymore. If you wish to accuse someone of being violent against you or another, you must be certain you are not violent or prone to anger. That sort of thing.

Sixth, you may be placed into uncomfortable or unsafe situations if you attempt to do this in order to get the best results. I've personally had my life and livelihood threatened on no few occasions by people I least expected, including 2 Christian pastors. I've had knives and guns pulled on me when finding out if a guy would be a good fit for my little sister to date. (Turned out they were gang members trying to turn her into a prostitute.) I've nearly been raped by my own mother when trying to find out why her memory was so awful, why she was sleepwalking, and why she was acting as though a toddler. (she was repressing her sexual urges and PTSD it turned out, which she herself only figured out about 5 years later after no fewer than 5 doctors told her such and after my dad divorced her for cheating on him for the 5th time in 20 years.) Et cetera. So taking this task on in earnest is not easy, not safe, and not comfortable or easy.

Seventh, final, and perhaps most important, know that you will be disappointed if you have high moral standards. Trust me when I say that nobody is perfect, and even when they're close to being perfect, there's something that catches them up. That's not to say it's impossible to be sinless for a time, but I've never met anyone who is without observable
