IGNOU offers M.Sc. in Geography (MSCGG) programme

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is offering the M.Sc. Geography (MSCGG) programme in the January 2025 admission cycle. This comprehensive, semester-based programme is designed to provide in-depth knowledge of Geography and its praxis in multiple fields. It is designed to equip the learners/students with essential skills for teaching and advanced research in the field of geography and geospatial applications. This programme would facilitate the learners to become valuable professionals in scientific and educational fields along with developmental agencies and NGO’s with diverse career opportunities. 

 Programme Highlights

·         Duration: Minimum 2 years, Maximum 4 years

·         Credits: 80

·         Medium of Instruction: English

·         Examination: Annual

·         Eligibility: Graduate in any stream from any recognised University/Institution/Organisation.

·         Age Bar: No restrictions

·         Fee: Rs. 14, 000/ - per annum

Programme objectives:

The MSCGG programme objectives are:

·         To enable the learners with a better understanding of the earth, its geomorphic processes as well as regional, socio-cultural and economic dimensions;

·         To inculcate a sense of environmental ethics among the learners that generates concerns on the sustainability of earth systems;

·         To orient the learners towards geographical research and expose them to tools and techniques on strong theoretical background; and

·         To prepare the learners for the current and emerging job requirements in the market, including both at national and international levels.

Learners/Students Target Group

·         The persons holding at least a Bachelor’s Degree and working in any sector, including those employed or involved in the field of Geography such as mid-career professionals from government departments, agencies, persons working in NGOs and developmental sectors, local self-governments, media resource personnel who wish to follow a career in different sectors of Geography.

·         The target group includes school and college level teachers, administrators and policy makers, defence and paramilitary personnel and those who are employed in natural resources and environmental management sectors, environmental laws, environment impact assessment and audit, green technology, training institutes, journalists etc.

इंदिरा गांधी नेशनल ओपन यूनिवर्सिटी (IGNOU) सत्र जनवरी 2025 के प्रवेश/परीक्षा आवेदन फॉर्म भरने की अंतिम तारीख़ 15.02.2025 कर दी गई है जो भी विद्यार्थी B.A./B.com/B.sc/ M.A./M.com/M.sc या कोई डिप्लोमा या सर्टिफिकेट कोर्स करने के इच्छुक हैं वे विद्यार्थी अंतिम तारीख़ से पूर्व ऑनलाइन आवेदन कर सकते हैं। अध्ययन केन्द्र व परीक्षा केन्द्र राजकीय महाविद्यालय सूरतगढ़(केन्द्र कोड-23134) रहेगा । विद्यार्थी अपनी रेगुलर डिग्री के साथ-साथ अन्य डिग्री या डिप्लोमा या सर्टिफिकेट कोर्स भी कर सकते हैं।परीक्षा वर्ष में दो बार दिसम्बर एवं जून में आयोजित की जाती है। प्रवेश व परीक्षा आवेदन भी वर्ष में दो बार जनवरी एवं जुलाई में लिये जाते हैं।

2 फ़रवरी को महाविद्यालय में RAS का पेपर होने के कारण 2 फ़रवरी तक B.A. 1st and B.A. 2nd की कक्षाएं नहीं लगेगी।
B.A. 3rd or M.A. pre or Final की कक्षाएं यथावत लगेंगी
