English is not only the international language but also the most widely spoken language today. Thatโ€™s why it is considered the world language.

But most of the students in our country aren't learning English well. Some of them are afraid of their English subject. Here I would like to give some tips on how to learn English well and how to get good marks in English.

The first and foremost duty of a student is to attend his English classes regularly and listen to what his/her teachers say in the classes. Without listening to the subject attentively, none can find any interest in it.

Secondly, students must first learn to read English with the correct pronunciation, then learn the basic rules of the grammar needed to understand it. If they can read the English text and understand it fairly, then gradually their fears will go away. Then they can pick up English childrenโ€™s storybooks. Sometimes they should try to read an English daily newspaper. Besides these, students have to make the habit of listening to the radio and TV at the time of English news. This will make it easier for them to learn English.

Thirdly, students have to write frequently what they have learned. To learn a language, it is very helpful to try to write a little in that language. If they try to write diaries in simple words and short sentences, they will gradually become familiar with the English language character.

Finally, students should try to speak English with their friends and classmates because practice always makes perfect. This will help them to speak English well. Besides, students have to use the dictionary to know the meaning of the difficult words.

Do you know what makes you happy or do you just think you know? At first, these two questions look the same. If you think something makes you happy, then it makes you happy. You know yourself, donโ€™t you?

Write a list of all the things that make you happy. How many of them are fun? Most of them? So, if you spend your time doing all these fun things, youโ€™ll be really happy, wonโ€™t you?

Well, maybe not. For most people, fun isnโ€™t enough for real happiness. Paul Dolan wrote a book called Happiness by Design. He thinks happiness comes from both pleasure and purpose. If most of the things on your list are about pleasure, that is what you think makes you happy. But you also need activities with purpose.

We usually know if something is fun, but we donโ€™t know what brings meaning. For example, most people think air pilots have jobs with clear purpose. They fly hundreds of people all over the world. But they spend a lot of time in boring hotels and airports and they do the same things hundreds of times. Those activities might not bring meaning โ€“ and theyโ€™re probably not fun. So pilots also need to find pleasure and purpose in their work and life.

There are different ways we can find purpose in things. Some activities might be motivating because they work for the good of people and the world around us. Or what you do might help a team youโ€™re working in.

If youโ€™re a student, your โ€˜jobโ€™ is studying and passing exams. Itโ€™s easy to do well in subjects you like, but subjects you donโ€™t like are less motivating. Theyโ€™re not fun for you, but you have to study them so you need to find purpose. An A in a subject you hate wonโ€™t help the world. But can you be part of a study team with friends? Each person can study one part until they understand it and then teach it to the rest of the group. The purpose becomes helping the team.

Go back to your list of things that make you happy. How many of them are activities that bring purpose? Can you add any? Remember, some activities might bring both pleasure and purpose.

Now you need to design a happy life. Paul Dolan believes people should โ€˜decide, design, doโ€™. First decide what brings you pleasure and/or purpose โ€“ that means your two lists. Then, donโ€™t just think about these activities, fill your life with them. For example, you might love riding a bike but never have time to do it. So, ride to school or the library or the shops. If you live too far away, take your bike on the bus or train. Get off early and ride the rest of the way. If you go in the car, put it in the back, stop a few kilometres away and ride the rest. Or move somewhere you can ride more. Some parts of our lives are good or bad luck, but we can still design the rest to make more happiness.

Trust is hard to define, but we do know when itโ€™s lost. When that happens, we withdraw our energy and level of engagement. We go on an internal strike, not wanting to be sympathetic to the person who we feel has hurt us or treated us wrongly. We may not show it outwardly, but we are less likely to tell the formerly trusted person that we are upset, to share what is important to us or to follow through on commitments. As a result, we pull back from that person and no longer feel part of their world. This loss of trust can be obvious or somewhat hidden โ€” especially if we pretend to be present but inwardly disengage. And those who have done something to lose our trust may not even know it.

On the positive side, trust makes people feel eager to be part of a relationship or group, with a shared purpose and a willingness to depend on each other. When trust is intact, we will willingly contribute what is needed, not just by offering our presence, but also by sharing our dedication, talent, energy and honest thoughts on how the relationship or group is working.

One dictionary definition of trust is โ€œfeeling safe when vulnerable.โ€ When we depend on a leader, family member or friend, we can feel vulnerable, and we need trust to manage the anxiety of this feeling. When trust is present, things go well; but when trust is lost, the relationship is at risk.

If the level of trust is low in a relationship or organization, people limit their involvement and what they are willing to do or share. They might think to themselves, โ€œThis is all you deserve,โ€ or, โ€œThis is as all I am willing to give.โ€ In contrast, when the trust level is high, people reward it by giving more. But, more often than not, people feel that their distrust is not safe to share. So a leader or loved one may be slow to discover that they have lost a personโ€™s trust.
