The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for Academic Year 2025-2026 to the DAAD-SEARCA In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme.
The programme aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Southeast Asia with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. To this end, a maximum of 25 new scholarships will be granted for Master or Doctoral studies (see table below) for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in Southeast Asia.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Nationals of any SEAMEO member country (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Timor Leste, Thailand, or Vietnam)
2. Must be a) staff member of a public university, or b) a candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment, or c) from the public sector
3. Must not be more than 40 (Master's Degree) or 45 (PhD) years of age at the time of application
4. Must have thorough knowledge of the English language, as evidenced by an IELTS score of 6.0 or better
5. Have completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application
6. Proposed thesis research should align with SEARCA's overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN). Please take note that for PhD candidates, the applicants will need to provide additional documents such as:
6.1) Declaration of acceptance from the academic supervisor or a commitment letter from the intended study post that a supervisor will be assigned;
6.2) Detailed and precise PhD proposal (8-10 pages), including detailed work and timetable indicated with months and dates as well as information on when the last exam will take place (if applicable, mention the planned research in Germany). Concept note will not be accepted; and
6.3) One page abstract of the proposal (please include name and title of proposal)
