NEET PYQS

Gynoecium

โœ“Gynoecium is the female reproductive
part of the Flower and is made up of
one or more carpels

โœ“Carpel Consist of three parts namely
-Stigma
-Style
-Ovary

โœ“Ovary is the enlarged basal parts on
which lies the englonged tube(Style)

โœ“Style connects the ovary to the stigma

โœ“Stigma is usually at the tip of the style
and is recepective surface for pollen grain

โœ“Each ovary bears one or more ovules
attached to a flattened , cushion like placenta

โœ“When more than one carpel is present.
they may be

1 Apocarpous (Lotus and rose)
Carpel are Free

2 Syncarpous (Mustard and Tomato)
Carpel are Fused

โœ“After Fertilisation
1 Ovules Develop into seeds
2. Ovary matured into a Fruit

Pulmonary respiration (intake of atmospheric oxygen and release of CO2 rich alveolar air) โ†’ Diffusion of O2 and CO2 across the alveolar membrane โ†’ Transportation of gases by blood โ†’ Diffusion of O2 and CO2 between blood and tissues โ†’ Cellular respiration (catabolism of food using O2 to release energy and CO2)

Alveoli are the primary sites of exchange of gases.

Gaseous Exchange in Lungs

โ— At alveoli level, gaseous exchange occur through respiratory membrane (diffusion membrane) which is 0.2 mm thick (total thickness is much less than a mm).

(i) Alveolar epithelium (thin squamous epithelium)

(ii) Basement substance in between them (composed of a thin basement membrane supporting the squamous epithelium and the basement membrane surrounding the single layer endothelial cells of capillaries)

(iii) Endothelium of alveolar blood capillaries

โ— Exchange of gases also occur between blood and tissues.

โ— O2 and CO2 are exchanged in these sites by simple diffusion mainly based on pressure/concentration gradient

โ— Pressure contributed by an individual gas in a mixture of gases is called partial pressure and is represented as pO2 for oxygen and pCO2 for carbon dioxide.

โžฉ The end of the T-wave marks the end of systole.

โžฉ Counting the number of QRS complexes that occur in a given time period, one can determine the heart beat rate of an individual.

โžฉ A patient is connected to the machine with the three electrical leads (one to each wrist and to the left ankle).

โžฉ P-wave represents the electrical excitation (or depolarisation) of the atria, which leads to the contraction of both the atria.

โžฉ QRS complex represents the depolarisation of the ventricles.

โžฉ T-wave represents the return of the ventricles from excited to normal state (repolarisation).

๐—ก๐—˜๐—จ๐—ฅ๐—”๐—Ÿ ๐—ง๐—œ๐—ฆ๐—ฆ๐—จ๐—˜

โ– The most complex tissue in the body composed of densely packed interconnected nerve cells called neurons (excitable cells and unit of neural system).

โ– Neural tissue exerts the greatest control over the body's responsiveness to changing conditions.

โ– The Neuroglial cell which constitute the rest of neural system protect and support neuron and make up more than 50% volume of neural tissue.

โ– It is specialised in communication between the various parts of the body and in integration of their activities.

โ– When a neuron is suitably stimulated, an electrical disturbance is generated which swiftly travels along its plasma membrane.

โ– Arrival of the disturbance at the neuron's endings or output zone, triggers events that may cause stimulation or inhibition of adjacent neurons and other cells.

โ– Primarily involved in locomotion and body posture.

Skeletal muscle
โ‡“
Muscle bundles/Fascicles
โ‡“
Fascia
(collagenous connective tissue)

โ– Each muscle bundle contains a number of muscle fibres.

โ– Muscle fibre is a syncitium (sarcoplarm contains many nuclei).

โ– Endoplasmic reticulum, i.e., sarcoplasmic reticulum of muscle fibre is the store house of calcium ions.

โ– Each muscle fibre has many parallelly arranged myofibrils/ myofilaments.

โ– Each myofibril has dark and light bands due to actin and myosin distribution that establish striated appearance.

โ– This model was proposed by Singer and Nicolson in 1972 which is widely accepted.

โ– It described protein as ice bergs in a sea of lipids.

โ– According to this model, the quasi-fluid nature of lipid enables lateral movement of proteins within the overall bilayer. This ability to move within the membrane is measured as its fluidity.
