The Senate reconvenes this morning to consider the proposed removal from office, by impeachment, of H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.
Today marks day two of the impeachment proceedings, during which the National Assembly will present witnesses for cross-examination starting at 10:30 AM. Senators are expected to engage in debates and will vote on the charges later in the evening at 8:00 PM.
The impeachment motion against Gachagua, initiated by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, includes 11 charges such as corruption, undermining government authority, and inciting ethnic divisions.
Gachagua has denied all allegations, describing the process as politically motivated.
Two-thirds majority is required for his removal from office.
