• Problem Management Specialist (RAN)
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Problem Management Specialist with a focus on Radio Access Network (RAN). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and resolving technical problems related to RAN infrastructure, ensuring continuous and efficient mobile network operations. This role focuses on identifying root causes of network issues, preventing recurrences, and collaborating with various teams to ensure optimal performance and availability of the RAN.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Problem Identification and Analysis (RAN Focused):
o Proactively monitor RAN performance and identify problems related to call drops, poor signal quality, congestion, handover failures, and other network KPIs.
o Conduct in-depth root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring RAN issues, using performance logs, drive tests, and network analytics tools.
o Collaborate with RAN operations and engineering teams to gather data for problem diagnosis, ensuring a thorough understanding of network conditions.
2. Problem Resolution and Prevention:
o Develop and implement action plans to resolve RAN-related problems, including adjusting network parameters, updating configurations, and recommending hardware upgrades or replacements.
o Work closely with RAN engineers to optimize network performance through solutions such as frequency re-planning, power tuning, and reconfiguration of radio parameters.
o Conduct proactive network monitoring and analysis to prevent potential issues and ensure continuous improvement of the RAN.
3. Incident Review and Post-Incident Analysis:
o Participate in incident reviews to assess the impact of RAN-related incidents and determine necessary steps for long-term problem resolution.
o Document and report on post-incident analysis, capturing lessons learned and contributing to the development of best practices for RAN problem management.
o Provide recommendations for network optimizations based on post-incident data and trends in RAN performance.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
o Serve as the point of contact between RAN operations, network planning, and service management teams, ensuring clear communication during problem investigation and resolution.
o Regularly update stakeholders, including senior management, on the status of RAN problem resolution efforts, RCA findings, and preventive actions.
o Coordinate with third-party vendors, service providers, and equipment manufacturers to address hardware or software-related RAN issues.
5. Process Improvement and Optimization:
o Continuously assess and improve RAN problem management processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions to enhance network reliability and performance.
o Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives by documenting solutions, troubleshooting methods, and lessons learned in RAN problem management.
o Assist in RAN network planning and optimization projects to prevent future incidents and support network expansion.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in problem management, specifically in Radio Access Networks (RAN).
• Strong knowledge of GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G RAN technologies.
• Proven experience in root cause analysis (RCA) and problem resolution in RAN environments.
• Familiarity with RAN infrastructure components (e.g., base stations, antennas, eNodeB, gNodeB) and their configurations.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on improving network KPIs and service quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of mobile network protocols (e.g., SIP, VoLTE, LTE) and understanding of 3GPP standards.
• Previous experience working with RAN equipment vendors like Ericsson, Nokia, or Huawei.
• Automation skills in scripting and toolsets such as Python, Shell scripting, or Ansible for automating network monitoring, data collection, and reporting processes.
