Daily trading volume remains around the 3 billion mark..."

"Main stocks that showed strong buying momentum would be the likes of KHB, NE, SCABLE, CREST, JCY, NICE, PERTAMA, GENETEC, BAHVEST, MICROLN, and YEWLEE..."

"$KHB... was surprisingly able to breakout from its RM 0.20 major resistance.."

"$NE...able to breakout from its RM 0.545 major resistance levels today and rallied all the way towards the RM 0.59 regions, forming a new high despite the weak market sentiment..."

"$KOSSAN ... had been able to slowly gain traction and broke out towards the RM 2.13 regions with good volume today..."

Daily Net Position for the Week

"Total Weekly Net Position:
Foreign Institution: +404 Mil
Local Institution: -383 Mil
Local Retail: -20 Mil

After 3rd consecutive week of net selling, foreign institution turns into net purchase. On the other hand, local institution turns into net selling after 5th consecutive week of net purchase. The largest net position occurred on last Thursday. The average trading value maintain at RM2.5 bil.

Moving forward, how would the market react to budget 2025, especially on the 2% dividend tax for dividend income > RM100,000?

Tax on dividends could make investors offload high-dividend stocks

“The government's proposal to broaden its tax base by introducing a 2.0 per cent tax on dividends exceeding RM100,000 may face resistance from the capital market..."

“…Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (SAMENTA) national president Datuk WIlliam Ng said the tax will disproportionately hurt small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owners.

"We must remember that the bulk of the dividend will go to the SME owners, not some silent or random investor as in the case of listed companies.

"Many SME owners do not draw salaries due to the tight cash flow experienced by most SMEs in recent years," he said in a statement.

He added that taxing them on dividends from income that is already taxed would not only be a form of double taxation but will discourage SMEs from growing their business or turning in higher profits..."
