The nature of any institution is to ensure the institution maintains control. Institutions are born from, developed within and controlled by those who are attached to group thoughts and behaviours. Even those institutions that were created to serve the community, become self serving hotbeds of power and control. Rationality, based in equanimity and kindness, flies out the window when the institutional mindset finds itself challenged. Any challenge is perceived to be a threat to the mentality of the confused and conditioned self referential mind that is seeking to protect its dominance at all costs. There are no concessions to be made. Everything is black and white. There are no grey areas. Institutionalism is an example of an extreme and therefore unhelpful view. Human existence and experience is not black and white. For the most part it is an inter-related greyness. Finding the middle way solution, that is based in actuality and not dominated by the emotions of subjective reality is the way to resolve issues without worrying about it.
