Precautionary Measures Taken by Government Agencies

Shell reported that an estimated 30 to 40 metric tonnes of slop, a mixture of oil and water, was leaked from its land-based pipeline into the water yesterday. Agencies are working closely with Shell to clean up the leaked oil in the channel between Pulau Bukom and Bukom Kecil. As 21 October at 3 pm (Singapore Time), there are no other oil sightings.

Incident Alert: Oil Leak from Shell Pipeline

MPA was alerted to an oil leak from a Shell pipeline between Bukom Island and Bukom Kecil. MPA has deployed MPA craft equipped with dispersants together with craft from its contractor Singapore Salvage Engineers. MPA has also activated its drones and satellite capabilities to assist with the sighting of the oil spill.

The leak was reported to have stopped at source. No new oil sightings as of 6 pm, and navigation remains unaffected.

Biennial Oil Spill Exercise Tests Operating Procedures and New Oil Spill Response Technologies

The 16th Joint Oil Spill Exercise was held this morning in conjunction with the 23rd Singapore International Bunkering Conference, organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. Conducted since 1998, the biennial exercise aims to test inter-agency and industry coordination and response to oil spill incidents in the Port of Singapore.

Singapore and Shandong Ink Agreement for Green and Digital Shipping Corridor

Advancing Maritime Digitalisation, Decarbonisation and Manpower Development Efforts at SIBCON 2024

The 23rd Singapore International Bunkering Conference, organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, was opened today by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and the Ministry of Transport. 

Themed “Accelerating the Maritime Fuel Transition”, the biennial event, held from 8 to 10 October 2024, is expected to be attended by more than 2000 maritime professionals from 38 countries.
