Move to Europe

01 Oct, 06:52

Hi folks,
I wrote a guide a while ago with everything I know about moving to Europe (It may be a bit outdated now since the markets have changed, but many basics remain the same IMO).

The guide is now "pay as you wish" - which means you can get it for $0.

Here is the link: https://sooraj.gumroad.com/l/move-to-europe-guide

I hope you found some value in it for people who already bought it. But to make up for the price change, I'm happy to have a 30-minute call with folks who already paid for it. Please email me [email protected] by mentioning you paid for the book in the title and I'll send you my calendar link.

(I know there are many folks in this channel and sharing my email is probably not a good idea, so please use it responsibly).

Haven't shared any job postings here in a while, primarily because the number of job postings I come across organically has drastically reduced. It's a tough time to be a job seeker. If you are one, wish you all the energy required to navigate the rough time.

Trying to get back to writing short newsletters related to remote work. If you are a remote job seeker, developing these skills might help you land a remote job.

Important

A friend of mine runs a Telegram channel focused on tech jobs offering visa/relocation assistance. Highly recommend to subscribe:

Besides job opps in Europe, there are many posts with international job search tips, resume and interview preparation advice, relocation stories, and more.

(Pretty sure the channel will be a lot more active and useful than this one, because he’s a pro in relocation related stuff).

Found this portal that has a LOT of open jobs in EU (tech, not tech and all kind of jobs).
BUT, one will need to spend a lot of time sifting through these jobs to see if they offer relocation, or if it’s worth it. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have plenty of time and is desperately looking for a move. (Too much noise IMO).

Banking jobs in Netherlands
Top banks in Netherlands - ING, ABN AMRO, Rabo etc are top “importers” of talent. They always have need for tech talents, and is almost always hiring. They provide relocation too. (It’s funny I get ABN AMRO career ads with an Indian’s face on it).

You may not find these jobs on typical job boards - so do check their websites and career pages. They’ll also have other jobs (non-tech) like finance, risk analysis etc.

Tip when applying: Friends who work there told me, when writing cover letters, include a reason why you are trying to move to the Netherlands, that will help instead of letting them ask that question.

Remote (Anywhere)

Chainlink is hiring for multiple engineering positions, requires overlap with ET, but they encourage you to apply for jobs independent of location (Which is really cool).
