[Types of Hernias]
Inguinal ligament - spans from ASIS to the pubic tubercle; made from the inferior edge of the external oblique aponeurosis
Femoral hernia - bulge below the inguinal ligament
Indirect inguinal hernia - passes through the internal inguinal ring to the superficial inguinal ring (on PE: will move from lateral to medial in the inguinal canal)
Direct inguinal hernia - passes through the abdominal wall layers medially to the inferior epigastric vessels and the internal inguinal ring (on PE: will move from deep to superficial)
