For the first time, Bangladesh will produce commercial drones locally, and will be ready to export them as well. A company named Sky Bees Limited is leading this initiative, planning to establish a factory in the BEPZA Economic Zone in Mirsharai, Chittagong. The company aims to invest $46 million to produce Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly used for various commercial and service purposes. Production of two drone models is expected to begin in January 2025, with a target of exporting $169 million worth of drones annually. Sky Bees plans to manufacture 10 different models of UAVs, primarily designed for non-military use, such as firefighting, cinematography, mapping, and agriculture.
