There are only two kinds of citizens in a country — patriots and traitors, who are assets and liabilities, respectively.Every citizen is an ambassador of his Nation.
There are two kinds of patriots:
1. A seasonal patriot-- This breed talks of the Nation above self, but in practice, they put self above the Nation. To a seasonal patriot, patriotism is a matter of convenience. A seasonal patriot says, “I will do whatever little bit I can do for the Nation.” That is no commitment, it is only lip- service.
Seasonal patriots act because they either want to win favours or avoid punishments. They don’t want to be labelled as traitors, yet their commitments are not strong enough for them to be able to make a sacrifice. At the first sign of inconvenience or difficulty, their patriotism evaporates.
2.True Patriots--
A true patriot says, I shall do whatever it takes, for the Nation. Duty is a forgotten word in today’s culture. The soldier knows dutybecause his life is committed to doing it in the service of his country.Duty is what we do out of gratitude to those who went before us and defended the liberties we enjoy today.
A soldier said, ““When you go home, tell them of us. Tell them, ‘for your tomorrows, we gave our todays’.”
Isn’t it interesting that a traitor for selfish reasons has no limits? He can go to any extent. Well, look at the other side — a patriot or a soldier for the Nation, also has no limit. He can go to any extent.
